Enron is a big YES for best play this year!
 Apr 9 2010, 02:07:12 PM
I'm so glad you enjoyed it so much. I have TDF tickets for next weekend, so I hope I'm as enthralled.
Your thoughts about the A Little Night Music Revival Cast Recording
 Apr 9 2010, 01:50:31 PM
I recieved the CD in the mail on Wednesday and have been listening to it non-stop. I absolutely love how much dialogue they included - it's a great way to have more tangible memories of the show. And I felt most performances translated well, though I've seen the show twice so I might be used to how each part is portrayed. I enjoy The Miller's Son, but it actually makes me wince inside during that one "meanwhile."

Awesome, thanks!
I love things that remind me to get out and see shows while they're here.

Valerie Harper as Tallulah in LOOPED - Thoughts and/or Buzz?
 Jan 28 2010, 07:43:30 PM
I saw it in DC last year and really enjoyed Harper's performance - that said, the show just didn't make a big impression on me. She does a great job, but there's nothing in the plot that completely grabbed me.
Re: Unpopular Opinions

I found Ted Neely's Jesus Christ Superstar to be the worst show I have ever seen. I felt like every single actor was specifically directed to act poorly. Not to mention, it's ludicrous that "Jesus" had scraggly, grey hair. 65 years old is not comparable to 30 years old.

That said, most of the audience gave it a standing ovation, so what do I know?

'Next Fall' on TDF...
 Jan 28 2010, 07:23:39 PM
The TDF Summary:

NEXT FALL

After a critically acclaimed, sold-out run Off Broadway last summer, Geoffrey Nauffts's new play now arrives on Broadway. Taking a witty and provocative look at faith, commitment and unconditional love, Next Fall goes beyond a typical love story. Luke believes in God and his partner Adam believes in everything else. The story portrays the ups and downs of this unlikely couple's five-year relationship with sharp humor and unflinching honesty. And when

So, who's gonna replace Angie in ALNM?

I laughed aloud reading JWOWW... and then felt embarrassed I got the reference.

First Preview of Present Laughter?
 Jan 4 2010, 12:42:04 AM
When Ashmankas first entered I was almost repulsed by his character. He plays so over the top, it's difficult to take him seriously as a character. That said, I came around by the third act, as at least he seems to have a character, unlike the majority of the cast.
re: decision- N2n or ragtime

I am a huge Next to Normal fan, but if you've seen it twice, definitely go with Ragtime - it's a great production!

I always assumed the "waiting in the car" line to emphasize how Diana's disease makes her misconstrue interactions, especially with her doctor.

I finally managed to see this show the past weekend for one of Dean's last shows (I somehow missed seeing it at Second Stage - my biggest regret of the year) and I thought he was amazing - definitely not phoning it in.

I am so ashamed that I have never seen Auntie Mame - but this is a great reminder to Netflicks it.

Just got a playbill signed by the cast of Hair - now I've gotten all my envelopes back!
re: Valerie Harper as Tallulah Bankhead
 Jun 18 2009, 02:50:06 PM
I saw it at Arena Stage and quite liked it. I wasn't very familiar with Tallulah Bankhead going in, so I can't judge how accurately Harper nailed the impersonation, but I loved the character. I though she acted it very well, though I felt the male character's arc was very indulgent - especially during a scene in the second act. Overall, the show was very engrossing, and had me leave the theatre wanting to know more about Bankhead.

Why no Round and Round the Garden?? Trust me, if you want to get the whole experience of The Norman Conquests, you should definitely see all three.
