This is one of my favorite Andrea Martin videos. It's got everything: Andrea Martin, Bernadette Peters, and a number from Follies. And they all blowed up, real good. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lQKWn6oPj-c

Timbuktu 1978 May 22
2013, 02:10:32 PM
I saw Tumbuktu in Boston. It was one of the first musicals I ever saw. I remember Eartha Kitt's campy Eartha Kitt-ness, played to the hilt, was enjoyable. Mostly I remember the performance of Night of My Nights, up and down the aisles of the Shubert theater. It was a knockout, joyous and wonderful.

A.R.T Pippin Dec 6
2012, 04:26:23 PM
I was excited to see this, and then the TV-movie version of the show from 1981 was on TV a few weeks ago and I saw it. I wish I hadn't. That was quite enough Pippin for me.

Plays Everyone Should Read Aug 30
2012, 10:41:35 PM
A few years ago, Sondheim called Green Grow the Lilacs a bleak play about homosexuality. The source for Oklahoma, a bleak play about homosexuality? I couldn't wait to read it. It was so interesting to read Oklahoma in bleak play form. I was surprised to see that many words and images in the musical are also in the play. But even with all those cowboys I didn't see a trace of homosexuality. The point of the story seems to be that the farmer and the cowman should be friends. "Friends?" Hm

Musical based on TV series Jun 13
2012, 01:59:39 PM
The Honeymooners has already been a musical, sort of. The show was revived in the late 60s, in color, with musical numbers. I have only a faint memory of it. I couldn't find a clip online.
