re: THE WIZ Reviews
 Jun 28 2009, 05:28:39 PM
Okay, I saw the Wiz last night and it was beyond dreadful. I felt like I was watching a HS production. Ashanti couldn't be stiffer or more uncomfortable on stage. Ashanti has the same expression for every emotion...awful. She is just horribly miscast. While some of the other performers were decent, overall the show was just poorly produced and directed. Ashanti can sing fairly well but she needs some serious acting lessons. La Chanze was the only redeeming thing about this show.

I liked Kevin's performance and thought he did a fine job. Kevin is younger than Norbert so as far as him being too old... I don't think so.

re: Martin Short show TODAY/Nathan Lane

I was thinking that when someone sees the show another day they need to report back here with details if they pull someone else (a non celebrity) out of the audience. There is no way anyone could be as Nathan was. The conductor and actors were all cracking up and since I was in the front row, I could see all the stagehands in the wings trying to get a better look. Funny stuff.

I was there too. What a great suprise to have Nathan there. I agree, Missy2 the show is kinda weird at parts and could stand some editing but that being said, I did laugh...loudly and alot.

What are your favorite soprano songs? Need suggestions.

What are some of the best soprano songs in your opinion? I am looking to expand my repetoire. I would prefer serious songs rather than comic pieces. My range (give or take) A below middle C to F (or higher tho nothing is written up there) above high C.

I am not a beginner by any means so level of difficulty is not an issue.

Thanks.

Too many to list. But I am interested in what other people interpret as appropriate for my vocal range. Always looking to expand my repetoire.

Song suggestions
 Oct 26 2005, 07:23:03 PM
My voice teacher has me singing predominately opera which is great but I want to do some musical theater, too. I am a lyric coloratura and would appreciate suggestions as to songs that might be good for me. I have an expansive range -- A below middle C to high F above high C.

I know many songs in this genre of course but would love other suggestions.

Thanks.

re: Wicked in Chicago

I have seen Wicked 9 times -- 7 in NYC, 1 in Toronto and once (this past weekend) in Chicago. The Chicago production is fabulous!!! I, of course, loved the OBC but this is a really, really close second. I did not care for the touring cast even Stephanie was good enough but Derrick was terrible and Kendra was mediocre.

I was really impressed with the interpretations the actors brought to their characters in Chicago. Kate and Ana are a great team. Just my 2 cents. And it was a trea
