How is the show itself? I'm seeing it next week and know virtually nothing about it. 

As an artist of note, this is the most powerful tool they have to show support/opposition. It will bring attention to what's going on and get people talking. I applaud him. 

Granted I've only seen it once several years ago, but I found Phantom intolerable. Schlocky romance with no humor or self awareness. When my ignorant friends say they "hate musicals" this is what they're mistaking all of musical theatre for. 

But how are the show's business cards??

For me, Some Enchanted Evening is the greatest song ever written. I enjoy nearly every version. It's just magic. 

I thought the White House performance was really great, it's so exciting that the show will reach audiences of young people who wouldn't ordinarily be able to see it or even care about that period of history. 

However, did anybody see Lin's freestyle? He can normally do no wrong but sadly it was subpar. Obviously worth watching though, particularly for Obama's patter.

Still reeling from the preview yesterday.  I’ve never seen an Ivo Van Hove production so in some ways I’m coming to the party late.  But after the acclaim that A View From the Bridge received I had to see what all the fuss was about.  And I did.  Everything from the design to the Philip Glass score was impeccable, and also incredibly powerful.
