I was hoping someone would post something. I had no idea there was a clip floating around. Thank you so much for sharing this, Pal Joey!

White people are 'ethnic' too

"For me the only issue I have is when it is a character that seems unbelievable in a period piece. Like Cornel John and Norm Lewis as Javert. Highly unlikely that there would be a black police man in France, let alone rise up the ranks of the force. Yes it is theatre and the whole thing requires some level of suspending belief, but still."

Whatever happened to Thelma Oliver? Of Sweet Charity and House of Flowers.

By the way, Ms. Oliver was not part of the original 1954 Broadway production of HOUSE OF FLOWERS.

Thelma Oliver played Ottilie in the 1968 Off-Broadway revival. I think that's what goldenboy was referring to.

The Denver Post list has Funny Girl as being written by Jerry Herman. Are there any other works that are attributed incorrectly?

I don't have any qualms with the idea that Glinda was written with a white blonde actress in mind. I only wanted to point out that being black does not necessarily preclude one from having naturally blond hair.

bwaylvsong- You still seem to be suggesting that blonde hair can only be the product of one white parent and one black parent. Two black parents are capable of having blonde children. I am a Jamaican and there are entire regions in Jamaica where you will encounter naturally blonde, dark skinned people who have not had a white descendant for generations. While true this is a result of mixed ancestry, these people consider themselves to be black, not mixed. It is for that reason that I said black

"Glinda can't be black because her naturally blonde hair is referred to many times in the script."

It is not impossible for black and mixed race people to have naturally blonde hair. It's more common than you think.

Jamaica. I really love the OBCR. The book is a mess. I've read multiple versions of the script. It was much stronger before they meddled with Harburg's original. I would love for Encores to get around to it some day.

I adore Carousel. IMO, one of the best scores ever written. I saw the Carnegie Hall concert in 2002 with Hugh Jackman as Billy and Audra McDonald as Julie. I really wish that performance had been recorded. It was glorious.

You have a solid instrument and a good timbre. I didn't think you got carried away with the riffing but dramamama's advice is something you should keep in mind for future material.

I found Make Them Hear You a little rushed. You could use some rubato in some places so you can really build it. A little more legato would help as well. Some of your phrasing was too choppy. Your family and friends are right though. You did well! Best wishes.

Another oldie "Ev'rything I've Got" from By Jupiter and if you can track it down "You Still Have a Long Way to Go" from Goodtime Charlie."You're a Liar" from Wildcat and "I've Got It All"from On the Twentieth Century are fun too.

Hey Gang

I don't have the foggiest idea as to why this has been removed for a second time. I was really enjoying hearing people's thoughts and memories about this show. Please keep 'em coming! And yes I'm still looking for the sheet music.PM me if you have it.

Thank you!
