Little Women... hope
 May 22 2005, 05:13:07 PM
A friend of mine... or actually i've just met her a few times and know that she was a former member of the musical theater group I am in now... was just cast as one of the leads in Lilttle Women just two weeks ago. She told us she was to start in June and my group and I and everyone else from our theater were soooooo excited for her. Now we here it's closing. Do you think the same peopple who hired her would give her an oppurtunity for maybe the tour or somethhing else? Or is it just tough luck

I've never seen it on Broadway but I saw the current tour and I can compare them vocally to the origional cast and they are not to far behind if not better, especially Mimi- she has way more talent than the origional and Maureen was just so amazing!

I had a meeting with NYU audition board and they don't take into consideration at all your GPA even if it's between you and another person unless one of the board members wants to consider it in his opinion, nor the school you attended, they said they really solely on finding "it". But everyone knows early admission people to any school have a much better chance of getting in then the normal admissions. I was just saying it's really hard to get a full scolarship to NYU or the summer program b/c

I listed all of them (except the ones I don't know hence the reason for this thread) and except Yale, Northwestern and USDAN. And NYU offers scholarships all the camps offer scholarships but they tend to give major advantages to those who pay full or donate stuff it's sick... same goes for entry of the school, the ratio of entry to Ticsh is so mad and yet everyone I know who applied early even though it's sooo much more expensive, and also donated money b/c they are rich got in, all three of the
re: Read any really good plays lately?

The book "Best of Broadway" is published annually I believe but my local library get's random anthologies, some of 3 years some of 4 or 5 so I dunno, but there are tons of "Best of Broadway in the 90's/80's/70's [ect...]". I saw Marathon 33 and it was sooo borring, seriously two things happened the entire two acts, I wonder how it is as a book.

It's a shame bookstores don't have some of these. I can't wait until "Broadway Shows of 2000-2004" comes out so I can read up on all the musicals I keep reading about that closed so quickly like Zanna Don't!, or ones taht are still on like Bug, BARE, ect... and those books are so awesome when you need to audition for something really soon and you don't know the background. Oh and I found this website that has just about every play that's ever been produced for like $5 or less sometimes- www.alib

That one's really cool and it's similar to the Yale program, it's only for Jr. who have really good grades and it's excellent. I'm so indecisive about this summer b/c I don't know which of all these are the best. Some times even the hardest to get into aren't the most respected amoung colleges and other important people.

Of course that counts I have random urges to read Shakepear plays all the time! I forgot why but i've heard it's really good for actors to read all the plays they can, I guess cuz they kinda act it out in their heads and it prepares them for cold readings and of course for their cultural knowledge.
Read any really good plays lately?

I have an obsession with reading plays. Lately I had a really good time reading Crimes of the Heart, Anna in the Tropics, The Foreigner, Angels in America and Suddenly Last Summer. You?
