Lea Michele as Fanny - Funny Girl Sep 7

very excited at all this response...I saw Beanie in it earlier this year and came to the message boards to affirm my profound disappointment. I'm seeing Lea in it this Saturday, and am relieved to have already come here seeing some of these responses so i can just sit, watch, and enjoy the Funny Girl performance I deserved when I first saw it.

I haven't posted on these boards in god knows how long...at least a decade. Anyway, I saw the show last night. If you haven't seen it, you'll most likely have a fun time - and I'm REALLY grateful I came to this messageboard first before seeing it! Everyone's voices here, even when they were dissenting, really helped me not set my expectations too high.
Obviously, Beanie's voice is very mediocre with a few hopeful/glinting moments that hint at what yo

"I can't stand the people that come from U of Michigan. They think they're God's gift and most of them aren't anything to write home about." people that say that are usually the ones who didn't get IN to UM...

Andrew Lloyd Webber wants to create a planet devoted to his musicals, and be the all reigning ruler/demigod. because people care that much about Phantom and Cats...

yup. because only old people care about we young troublemakers keeping our phones on vibrate.

a job is a job. I'm sure people working at whatever banal desk jobs don't consider that to be a part of their "dream" either. But its work. C'est la vie.

why are we stll talking about this? who cares about phones being on vibrate/silent/screaming mode... I, for one, always keep it on vibrate ever since my aunt died when I was seeing Wicked, and missed about 20 calls and didn't get to say bye to her. I don't know why all the old people care about keeping your phone on vibrate...get over it. as for phones ACTUALLY being on and having to listen to someone's Rihanna ringtone, I absolutely hate that.

I have the audio of her matinee on the 10th and its very good. I think thats her second show, right? She always sounded good I think, but she sounds absolutely incredible now. True character, and her voice just SHINES. I'm very impressed.

re: translators for a show Dec 30

it depends on the show, theatre, and basically, how much money they have to be able to do things like that. I know Wicked had similar possibilities, with ShowTrans. But smaller shows, I would say it is unlikely.

I'm going and I am already annoyed at the prospect of hearing legions of teenage girls weeping loudly for the duration of the show. It makes me think of when I went to Kristin's last Wicked and the girl sitting next to me seriously, did not stop sobbing the whole way through the show. I can understand being emotional...I myself may be emotional....but the melodrama is so....melodramatic. hahaha

re: Tipping Your Dresser? Dec 30
2008, 10:21:34 PM
This is a very interesting topic. After reading the in depth descriptions Theatrediva said of his job, I think its pretty necessary for dressers to get tipped. And yes, as he said...if you are a chorus member then clearly you won't tip the dresser because they aren't helping you the way the would a star, who would have their own dresser. If the dissenters are thinking of chorus members tipping....they shouldn't. lol. I completely understand that the dresser goes above and beyond the job descript
