re: the next musical you would like to see!!

I didn't mean THAT was a parody, although it is completely ficticious, but I meant like dif Shakespeare-like morals in modern musicals.

agreeable, but I think shakspeare in bway is been a bit overdone, parodies I mean. Its a wonderful story though and could be done really well

sorry, a bit off-topic but whenever I see your icon Juliet I think Brian Kenny from Queer as Folk, lol, it stumps me every time. Anyways, I agree that the roles, if done properly, could be classic

Sorry to be off topic (but I agree to the essentialness of the snog) but Sweeny on film would be really really scary, wonderful, but really scary

My only problem with all these modern comedic movies is that it might be one of those one hit wonders where people will see if for the first week and then get bored, ya know? Thats why I think an older more whethered story, or a completely new one would be good
re: You Don't Have to Sing..It's a Musical!

That is an extremely good point. Certain stories are enhanced better with different elements of the fine arts. Thats why some musicals (42nd Street) are even more focused on dance than singing or acting, so its really the choice of the writer. I guess the most recent musicals just seem to have a stronger acting base, but that doesn't mean that acting is more essential to a musical then any other element

OMG, only the best fairy tale since Walt Disney! The movie is sort of a comedy about a far off land, love triangle, its wonderful. The book is awesome, u need to experience both of them

I seem to be outnumbered here. I agree that acting the song is important, but who wants to listen to the plot the song is conveying if it is being sung badly, even if it is being acted spectaculary

re: Wicked: The Movie?!
 Mar 19 2005, 03:52:25 PM
Dont misunderstand, I'm not saying that it is, I have just heard things thats all. I really would like Wicked the book to be a musical. Its a very rich plot, still would be hard to do and convey well. It reminds me of Ella Enchanted though, WONDERFUL book, and what happened with the movie

ooooo Ever After!!! That would be really fun! With all the levels of the dungeon and stuff. Lots of room for really good songs and very humerous stuff. I like that a lot

I am an opera major thank you very much, and yes acting is becoming important, but what makes a musical different from a play is the fact that it has the element of the song, its what makes a musical a musical. I'm not saying that a focus on acting isnt happening, I'm just saying that I wish it wouldn't
Wicked: The Movie?!
 Mar 19 2005, 03:44:38 PM
I have heard weird rumors about Wicked being so awesome that they want to make it into a movie. Does anyone know if thats true or if there is any info? I really hope they dont, seeing as they butchered Phantom, at least vocally

eh, I dont know if you can top the mastery of sister act, lol, amazing as it was. It could be fun though. We need more gospel type musicals today! You could do it, it would have to be really hip though. Miss congeniality would be kinda hard I would think, but I'm not the genious here, lol

I have no idea why singing is getting so pushed over here. I agree with everyone that acting is becoming more important nowadays, sadly enough, but in response to paying so much to go see a musical, I payed 200 to see Idina belt and it was all worth it. Acting is important and it moves the musical along, but take opera for example, they do it simply through music. I think both are important, but neither should be taken as more important since both need to be exceptional to have a truly wonderful

OMG! I adore Camp, that would be a good idea, but I think a totally new idea might be better, to get a big hit! HM.... it would be kind of copyright prone or whatever, but Pocahontas would be really fun to do!
