Hadestown Rush/SRO Updates
 Mar 7 2020, 11:04:17 AM

My friend and I did standing room yesterday (3/6) and got there initially at 2:30PM. No one was in line. We ducked into a little cafe around the corner and would periodically check to see if anyone got in line. No one got in line until 3:30PM, and it was just one person. At 4:30PM my friend and I got in line and were 2/3 in line. When the box office started the standing room procedure at 5:00PM a few additional people came in the line, making it 6-8 overall.

It was during the wor

The Minutes Rush
 Mar 7 2020, 10:53:28 AM

My friend and I rushed this morning! With the show just opening for previews, it being cold, off peak for tourist season and with the coronavirus...we decided to take a chance and wait until 9:00AM to show up. So happy we did rather than getting there typically at 7:30AM for rush, there were only 6 people in front of us. When the box office opened there were probably 12-15 people in line total.

The people in front of us all got Mezzanine seats house right and left

American Son Rush

Rushed this morning, got there at 8:00 am and was 6 in line. By 9:00 am there was 10 people in line and when the box office opened there was close to 15-20 people. It was way milder than I though given the talent in this show, but perhaps it's because it's a play and I tend to feel plays draw smaller rush crowds. Just my view. Anyway, ended up getting tickets for evening and they were Orch, stage left, row A. The seats, even on the side were wonderful and we didn't miss anything! Definitely wort

Bad Theater Behavior

All these accounts of phone usage is still mind boggling to me. Like people pay a lot of money to see these shows and for what? To look at their phone which they can do at intermission or after the show? But this is nothing new. Phones should be banned period as others have suggested. If seen, you are removed and no re-entry.

I was at Wicked this past weekend (my friend's first time seeing the show), and the number of people that got up to use the restroom or just exit during the show

Beautiful Lottery
 Jul 1 2018, 01:25:42 PM

I won the lottery today for the matinee! I only got one ticket and it's side Orch in row B. I've seen the show before (years ago with Jessie), but I'm excited to see Melissa's take on the role! Plus, nothing like listening to some Carole King tunes to escape from this heat wave :P

Edit: forgot to add, this was my first time entering the lottery, so I'd say chances are fairly good for people who want to try it!

Emma Stone Waitress?
 May 18 2018, 03:01:53 PM

1. It was a movie first before it was a musical. Highly doubt they'd adapt it back into a movie musical.

2. And as much as I love Emma Stone and think she was great in Cabaret, I'd have to say no.

How often do you cry at musicals?
 May 15 2018, 10:49:23 AM

I find I am grinning from ear to ear during the whole duration of a show, regardless. It stems from just being so excited to see these productions live. However, I've cried during more musicals than I care admit, but a time that stays with me was in The Bridges of Madison County, second act when Robert sees Francesca with her family in town and she runs to him and they embrace and then you realize it was a fantasy of hers. Gosh, that wrecked me.

Tkt for Haim concert - May 4 @8pm
 Apr 30 2018, 12:12:12 PM

Hi everyone! I know this doesn't have to do with Broadway/theater, but I figure someone on these boards might be interested. I have a friend who has a Haim ticket to their concert this Friday (May 4 @8pm, Radio City Music Hall) and can no longer go and is looking to sell it. The ticket was $86 but selling it for $60, Sec ORCH7 Row ZZ and Seat 701. If you're interested just DM me!!

'She Used To Be Mine' from WAITRESS
 Apr 24 2018, 03:31:02 PM

I went to Waitress 3 weeks ago and had the opposite experience, the audience seemed to love it. Could be a hit or miss depending on the audience I'm sure.

Eliminate a show for me.
 Apr 10 2018, 12:40:17 PM

Eliminate Frozen. As much as new material is more intriguing to you and your wife, this show is a pass. Similar enough to the movie and the differences didn't make me think I'd be disappointed if I hadn't caught the show. Not trying to hate on Frozen or anything because I think it's overall a good show (and I loved the movie), just trying to be honest.

That leaves Carousel. I've seen it twice and it definitely improved by the second viewing. It's

Dear Evan Hansen OBC Contracts
 Apr 9 2018, 04:50:32 PM

I know there are open casting calls for "possible" replacements for DEH this Friday in Chicago. Who knows if they'll actually find replacements during that call though.

Edit: They call posting says rehearsals would begin early August. So the timeline fits.

Carousel Rush
 Apr 6 2018, 05:17:49 PM

Same. Jessie Mueller was the draw for me but sadly she's hardly on stage.

Regarding Rush, on my way to work during this past week I noticed around 9:30 the line had about 25-30 people. Since I can't stand in line Mon-Fri I'm not sure when these people got the, but I'd say it would be safe to get there by 7:00/7:30 during the week if you really want to be first in line. However, I rushed a few weekends ago on Sunday and arrived around 8:30 and was 2nd in line.

Same! I saw the show shortly after it opened and only returned for the second time last Friday and was able to get a standing room ticket! I didn't think it was still selling out, but I guess so :P

If you could revive any Broadway flop?

You think 1776, a show that ran 1,217 performances and three years was a flop? Really?
"

Sorry, I was thinking of when it played at the Roundabout in 1997, but I realize now that was a limited engagement anyway!
