re: Les Miz Performance Rights
 Jan 9 2008, 03:35:09 PM
So sorry!! I must have been misinformed. I'm quite sure that I read somewhere that the only place to see it in North America would be on Broadway because there were no tours as long as it was playing there. My mistake. Forgive a poor southern girl.

A local university near me wanted to do it this year and were unable to get the rights. I know that it can't tour while showing on Broadway, maybe the same rules apply for amateur productions. I think the only version they could get was the high school version.

Oh now, I thought the humor was amusing. That's what I mean by cute. The different personalities in the painting (like the woman who doesn't understand why she is holding a monkey), and modern day George's attitude at the cocktail party with all of his cardboard cutouts of himself--not hysterically funny--but "cute".

The man is amazing! Let me risk abuse and say he is better than Colm Wilkerson. He's a hottie too. I wish I could have gotten up to New York to see him. I saw him in London this summer and fell in love. When I heard he was coming to NYC I SOOOOOO wanted to see him again. But, I'm down here in Alabama with no money!
Sunday in the Park...

Oh this is a really good show! Very cute! I saw it in 1984 with Bernadette Peters and Mandy Patinkin (spelling probably wrong). I enjoyed it especially since we had studied Seurat's paintings and how he was "different" from the norm at the time. We saw the play and then visited the art museums to view his work--quite a trip.
Les Mis touring

Now that Les Mis is closing on Broadway, is there any talk of it touring?
John Owen Jones

Anyone know what Jones will do once Les Miserables closes this month. I know he gave up the part in London to come here and was wondering what his plans might be now, He is amazing! Saw him in London at The Queen's Theatre--WOW!
