Marla Mindelle's BIG GAY JAMBOREE at the Orpheum Off-Bway, produced by Margot Robbie. Fall 2024.
 Sep 16 2024, 09:19:50 AM

I saw it last night, and it's a blast from start to finish.  Honestly, the best musical I have seen in a long time.  The score is incredible and has four or five bangers that completely stop the show.  The set and costumes look so expensive, and I couldn't believe this production value was off-Broadway.  The staging and the choreo is so fun, and damn I laughed so very much.  I think this is going to catch on hard like Titanique and Oh Mary.  It looked tot

Beetlejuice breaks Winter Garden Box Office Records

Sure, Beetlejuice may not be Gypsy, but it's surely not the worst show of the last season, let alone the last 30 years. I am sure you are speaking in hyperbole, but are you saying that you thought it was a worse show that "Getting the Band Back Together," "Pretty Woman," or "King Kong?"  My gang of theatergoers who saw everything last year liked it a far more than more of the musicals, including "Be More Chill" and "Tootsie."  Pl

I totally agree with some of the last posters...I cannot understand the absolute passionate hatred for this show by some of the posters here.  I saw it over the weekend and had a total blast.  I thought the performances were really strong, especially Alex Brightman, who is killing it up there.  To read some of these posters saying "it was the worst Broadway performance I have EVER seen" just makes me stop reading the assessment right there.  I also loved Leslie K

Sometimes, I can't take it with these boards.  Everyone goes to a first preview and gleefully tears the show apart.  And then when someone gives a contrary opinion (that they enjoyed the show), they are accused of being a shill for the show.  I mean, come on!  Just agree to disagree on the thing.  And for people for are obviously obsessed with theater - just like I am - so many people root against shows.

I was there as well and had a total blast

WOW, this is a mess

I love Taylor Mac. And I loved nearly all 24 hours of his 24 Decade History show in SF.  My issue with this show is that it didn't have a consistent plot or persective.

I went into the show SO excited to see a new work from these artists.  And I thought the idea of the show sounded like a total hoot.  But wow, this show needs some work.  The three leads are in great form and making the most out of the material they were given, but I still don't really know what this show is about.  It's about maids cleaning up after a massacre, but one of them wants to put on a musical?  Maybe it's just not my cup of tea, but I think my o

beattlejuice or Tootsie. Spring trip

Having seen both out of town, I would go with Beetlejuice.  While Tootsie is certainly fun, it's just a good example of old fashioned musical comedy.  I thought Beetlejuice was hysterical and had the audience from the very start.  Plus the physical production is a total marvel.  We haven't seen a show look like this in a very long time.

BEETLEJUICE - Pre-Broadway Tryout in DC
 Nov 2 2018, 09:10:53 AM

I know that the posters on this site are prone to extremism - "It was absolutely brilliant" or "It was the worst show ever" - but these negative reactions are ridiculous.  If you want to be critical of the show, then point out what you didn't like and, god help us, what you did.  This is an out of town tryout where the creators are undoubtedly making changes to the show (like, for me, the tone of some of the more serious scenes).  But, come on, we are pe
