Universal's WICKED Film - News & Discussion Thread

I was wondering how they were gonna do Nessa being played by someone who can't walk in real life. Very interesting. Great interview!

Thanks for the info, ErmengardeStopSniveling! And I would almost agree about the Aunt Em doubling, but I recently realized the answer to the question some have of why Glinda isn't a double of Aunt Em in The Wizard of Oz film: Dorothy is trying in particular to get home to her aunt, so if she feels she kind of has her in Oz, who is she trying to get home to?

It's true, usually a film only wins Best Costume or Production Design if it was also nominated for Best Picture. So I don't think the guilds are doing that, I think people who don't have a clue/give a damn about such categories just vote for the one in the category that also got a Best Picture nom. But I think the design elements of these films is so outstanding and note worthy, they have a chance. Galinda and Elphaba's Ozdust Ballroom looks aside...

I bet the films will win the Best Production and Costume Design awards. I can't think only splitting the films into two parts automatically means they lose out on the Lead and Supporting Actress awards. It is true the emotional heft is in the second film, but then I think at least that film could get them the noms.

Dee Dee Bridgewater won for "Best Featured Actress" for Glinda in The Wiz. Doesn't she only appear at the end to sing one song? That's amazing! And even in the revival, she appears briefly for just two songs, which...I wish she was just there at the end, because her earlier appearance doesn't make sense and steals the song from the other Good Witch actress! 'Course, I loved Deborah Cox as her in the revival anyway...

Hello all! I saw the second to last Broadway date of this show, and....I LOVED IT!

So the show is over being on Broadway, so who is this review for? Well, some people wanna know how a show was even if it is a show from the past, and there is always the tour to see! This review is really just for people who love The Wiz or theater in general and just love hearing about it!

I have always loved The Wiz ever since I was a little kid who fell in love with The Wizard of Oz. A daycare

Disney's Snow White 2025

Yup, degrassifan, I have seen that clip, too! It's one of my favorite Cinderella-related clips! But I must say, I never agreed with it, it was Cinderella's fairy Godmother who got her to the ball! Of course, it was because Cinderella was kind, and had faith in her dreams, that she got rewarded with it. Snow White still ran away from someone who wanted to murder her and found a way to live safe and happily!

I agree with all that, EricMontreal22, including how ridiculous it is for the man Snow White loves to need consent to kiss her.

I wish I could agree Cinderella has the most agency of the Walt princesses, degrassifan, but Snow White may have more. I just feel Snow White really takes care of herself up until that apple bit. At least Cinderella tried to get to that ball!

Aurora is probably the classic Walt era princess with the least agency. The only agency she seems to have is in trying to get her aunts to let her go with the man she loves, but even that gets squashed when she thinks she has to be betrothed to another guy.

Snow White actually has a lot of agency. She runs away from the evil Queen who is trying to kill her (even though she was told to do so), she asks animals where to stay and finds said place, and she thinks of

In my thirty's I saw Phantom and Rent, but it wasn't until I saw this show in a touring company that I became a hopeless fan. Thanks to Stephen Schwartz, and thanks to SJB, I have seen the very best of Broadway ever since."

This is a wonderful story. I am so glad Wicked made you love musicals ever since! Kind of a surprise it took that s

In this new, full trailer, everything, from the sets and costumes to the staging and acting, looks smashing! Cynthia is actually acting the part extremely well, and Ariana is doing a good job, too! Maybe she needs to work a bit on her comedic timing or more emotion, but maybe she has it perfect like Cynthia, hard to judge. I wonder if the acting lessons she took helped, but it could all be just her doing a fantastic job! Michelle is also doing very well. But Cynthia is slaying. Her,

Thanks for your review, seaweedjstubs. I wanted to see this, and it's interesting to know how they tried to tie Evilene in, and I had heard the book was improved, but it sounds like it was mostly hurt instead of helped. I still may buy a cheap ticket fort this. I don't know. I may just wait to save my money for Death Becomes Her. I wish we got a good Wiz revival instead of this. Good thing I own the Wiz Live!

The costumes, sets, staging and dancing look glorious! And seeing how much Cynthia and Ariana want to be in this, and how much Jon M. Chu wants to direct this, makes me so excited!

I think Madeline should be arguing with Ernest at the top of the stairs and then fall down by accident. That way Ernest isn't a murderer who gets off in the end.

A lot of this film is just way too dark. Munchinkland, which is supposed to be full of vibrant color in contrast to Dorothy's normal existence is dark, the cinematograp
