Matilda Original London Cast Cd Question May 12
2013, 12:26:41 AM
I happened to see Matilda in London last summer (It was amazing.) I purchased the cast recording on iTunes, but it never said which actress was chosen to sing the role of Matilda on the recording. I also heard that all four actresses appear on the cd. If anyone has a lyric book, does it state which actress sings which song?

Interested in this, although I think Kristen Bell would be better suited as Heather 1. Christian Campbell and JD? He's a little too nice for that character. Jenna Leigh Green, I assume is the Shannon Dohorty Heather..?

I think it's absurd that everyone on this site talks so much crap about Broadway performers. I thought this was a sight to honor performers, and learn about the latest info. This is why I visit the site, but hardly leave any comments or feedback. People spend their entire day bashing each other, and other performers. Does anyone on this site like any performers at all, or is this site simply a way to pass your droll work day? To those of you who are here to appreciate, more po

To Mazzie's defense she belted and growled her way through "I Hate Men," in Kiss Me Kate, and then took over for Aldonza, and belted and growled through her numbers in Man of La Mancha...so we'll see.

Ever since I heard the Carrie cd several years ago, I was thinking only Alice Ripley can sing the crazy score like Betty Buckley can! And Jenn as Carrie is a great choice, although Carrie is supposed to be chubby.

Alice Ripley as Mrs. White. After hearing her sing and act "Epiphany" as Sweeney. She's perfect. She can sing soprano AND scream the score every night. Betty Buckley's Margaret will be hard to live up to, but Alice is the only one raw enough, that I can think of...

I agree with it being a major success off broadway! I saw it 10/10/09 and it was a high octane, dynamite of a show! Wow, the energy and adrenaline that is needed to get through that show is intense. I was surprised at the use of some songs from "21st Century Breakdown" and some new songs as well. (Does anyone have a complete songlist, as they didn't post it in the program.) John, Matt and Tony were excellent in their roles.

Sharon Brown, who's African American, played Lucy in the 1st National Tour of Jekyll and Hyde. She also played Narrator in the 1980s production of Joseph on Broadway. http://www.angelfire.com/musicals/performers/SharonBrown.html Her name escapes me, but there was an African American woman who played Madame Thenardier in Les Miz. Norm Lewis playing Javert in Les Miz. Joan Amidalla, an Asian American, played Fantine in Les Miz for years. Daphne Rubin Vega played Magenta in Rocky Horror and Fantine in Les Miz. Audra MacDonald as Carrie in Carousel and Lizzy in 110 in the Shade. Telly Leong as Baq in Wicked. Jason Tam as Paul in ACL. Deidre Goodwin as Sheila in ACL. Billy Porter as Teen Angel in Grease Revival Merle Dandridge as Lady of the Lake Lachanze as Marta in Company Angel Deasi as Marta in Company Tony Vincent as Judas in JCS Dianne Carrol as Norma Desmond in Sunset Blvd Titus Burgess as Nicely in Guys and Dolls as you can see, the list is ENDLESS!

It's the real deal. I've had my copy for near 10 years now. Meredith Braun's version of "On My Own" is my favorite of any that have been recorded.
