re: Minsky's?

It's good to hear it is getting a good overhaul. Bob Martin though is so funny and a really talented writer. Add Beth Leavel with Casey Nicholaw and I'm paying close attention to this one. Chris Fitzgerald sounds like fun too.

I really like Marla Mindelle too from the Drowsy Tour. I wish she had a role in this too. She is such a talented character Actress.

I'm hoping it will be done in a, "Guys and Dolls" sort of way but not that show. We will see. Keep us informed. I

Sounds bizarre to me? Though these are both great Entertainers so even as a flop, it going to get attention. Hopefully it won't be one of those, "they are great performers but what is this?", kind of Movie.

I was liking the, "Cleopatra Jones" angle a lot more.

I really enjoyed the show. It can last another five years easily. On Broadway? Well, my only problem is that it might be preventing something new to come along? Yet it is successful and I know it will continue to make money as new fans find out how much fun it is.

I can't wait to see it sit down in San Francisco. It's such a treat and at least I know it is something I will enjoy seeing again.

Congratulations. Thanks for such an entertaining and thought provoking show!

I'm excited about this production too! I have a friend in Chicago so this might work out fine.

It's the insurance company playing games. Most of them are too eager to take your money and so slow when it comes to paying their own bills. In the end, there is almost always Lawyers. I'm glad too that he did hire a Lawyer. I'm sure, he had little choice. Disney is though at their insurance company's mercy, unfortunately. You pay a huge fee for the coverage but when you ask them to pay, it always comes down to Lawyers. The insurance company fights the suit because too many will settle too so
re: RENT: Live from Broadway (Film) - Thoughts
 Sep 26 2008, 02:25:18 AM
My theater put up the poster for the show late and than, on the off side, where hardly anyone would notice it. Kind of disappointing. Our theater was half full but the audience seemed to like it. They were clapping at the end of it, so I figured it was mostly a stage theater crowd.

I really enjoyed the movie and I am so happy they recorded it for us. I do hope they take out that intermission before it goes on DVD but then, I can always skip it if I have to. It did cut the flow of the

Hey thanks! We love the man and I should have known this already. Now we have to find the old episodes. Eh, it will come out on DVD next season. We never see enough of ol' Bruce. He makes having a chainsaw look like fun.

Very sad news. He left behind a legacy though of great performance. If you have to go, leave something great for others to follow. My condolences to his family and friends.
re: San Francisco Ballet

I think they are very good. I just don't like what SF has done to the local stage and the new artistic directer isn't a favorite of mine. The dancers though are wonderful and very talented.

Great news. Especially that they are working on another sequel. It really does need to be updated. I'll be looking out to add it to my scary DVD collection. I wish they would bring the show out to the West Coast. We love Bruce Campbell's, Ash character. He's too funny. One of the great highlights of the Spiderman Movies is trying to find out what part Bruce will be playing in the Movie this time.

I don't mind seeing the show with other stage performers though either. It will be a r

re: Final Rent performance to be released on DVD.

^^Yes, it would. Hopefully they won't miss that marketing opportunity. If they have to re-dub it, that would cause a delay but really, the sooner the better. If they hope to capitalize on the limited movie release.
re: Rent Final Performance Movie Tix On Sale

I can't believe they are showing this in my town. I'm happy to not have to drive out of town to see the finale. This is great and it is showing out here at regular ticket prices. That's even better. I'm trying to get as many of my friends out to see this. If it does well enough, hopefully more big shows will follow their cue? I would have loved to see the final performance of The Drowsy Chaperone as well. A Chorus Line might have been nice too?

I'm happy too that they are advertis

re: Michael Blakemore to Direct March 2009 revival of BLITHE SPIRIT

That would be a great cast. Now we are suppose to apologize for not being 100 yrs. old and seeing the original Broadway cast? Sheesh!

If it's good, it's good. I don't understand why so many of you think nothing original will turn up on stage? At least with the older stuff, it doesn't seem like a complete re-run of you just saw or worse, avoided at the Movie Theatre lately.

Some suggestions of what should be coming to the big stage from a book or off-Broadway is what I

re: Bogardus, O'Malley, Denman, and Patterson Head to Broadway's WHITE CHRI
 Sep 3 2008, 06:35:17 PM
Well, I'm interested in this show. I hope that Mark Ledbetter will get called back for the show. He's a great dancer and singer. He has done a great job on The Drowsy Chaperone Tour and it just made me feel worse for missing White Christmas when it was in SF. I'm hoping I'll get to go back to the Marquis to see this show finally on Broadway. It's on my Christmas List this year.

All of you grumpy people can just stay home and watch television. If I put out that much money, I don't want it spoiled by complainers. Post all you want though. I rather you vent it here.

re: Spider-Man: the musical?
 Aug 30 2008, 06:47:42 PM
There is such a thing as overkill but I'm waiting to see how this turns out? I'm just hoping for an imaginative villain for the show. Puppets still sound strange but we will see. I don't want to hear a bad demo. If it's that bad though I hope they are listening to us. Music is just too important to be mediocre, especially if they want this to be any good and attract anything positive from places like this.
re: First three previews of 9 TO 5 cancelled
 Aug 30 2008, 06:42:27 PM
Indeed! Ouch! That had to hurt. Sorry you have to miss the opening Blonde but I'm looking forward to everyone's reviews too. I had an entire row removed for one show and ended up seated so close to the stage I could touch the Actors. They had a bottle of JD on stage and I was really needing a glass right about that time. I couldn't exchange my seat but the show was great. Stuff happens.

I just wanted to agree that the Ahmanson has some of the greatest staff around and I hope they are

re: Children's theater
 Aug 30 2008, 05:50:29 PM
We've had some great children's theatre out here in Sonoma County at the Wells Fargo Ctr. for the Arts. Some shows just aren't very good or well funded. That's why I like reviews and ask questions before hand. If your granddaughter can sit through a whole performance that's pretty good. Most performance are too long for young children. It sounds like they didn't have a very creative artist director, too bad. Sets can be made for almost nothing if you have a lot of creative talent, so that sou
re: Who would be interested in 'To Kill a Mockingbird' as a Broadway drama?
 Aug 30 2008, 05:37:50 PM
I know the story fairly well. I've never seen it on Broadway since it never has been shown there, right? I'm afraid you still missed the part about some not being able to read well. Some read but still don't understand. For me, it's the drama and great roles that actually mean something. It was well written, so it is well read. I still would like to see it performed on a stage.

I like some revivals because I was too young to see them on Broadway in the past and only saw them in a Mo

re: Quick Poll: Drinks at your seat at the theatre?
 Aug 30 2008, 05:50:15 AM
They allow snacks and bottled water out here at the Orpheum. Most people are polite but I agree, except for cough drops, Life Savers, nothing too noisy, I wish people would not eat at their seats in the Theater during a show. People still leave Playbills and napkins behind. They think it's a drive-in. I'm especially concerned because of what Movie Theaters look like after a show. Pretty disgusting.

They have enough trouble trying to keep things nice and ticket prices down as it is. I'

re: Gypsy 2008 Broadway Cast Recording
 Aug 30 2008, 05:14:33 AM
I'm happy they recorded this! I won't be able to see Patti in this show but at least we can have the CD. I like to listen to some of the music before I buy something. I think it is good promoting to release some of the album ahead of time. I like reading what others like about it. I may not agree but most of the time I do.

I think many great Actress, Actor's have played these roles before. I just want to make sure I have this version too. I only wish we could buy a recording of the sh
