Thank you for your rational comments and your castigation of those who would label with a broad brush. Who knows what subtle musical references to Harold Arlen's msuic from the "Wizard of Oz" Mr. Schwartz may have included? And who knows how many of them may have been inadvertant or subconscious? Without a doubt: "Home, Sweet Homer." Even Yul Brynner couldn't save this Mitch Leigh/Dale Wasserman disaster. Or is it the other way around?

Yes, and as a DC area resident I plan to see it. I've always liked the music from it, but have never seen it staged. I'll be interested to see if what has been stated here is accurate - that it is all musical fluff and no substance.

Now that I've completed transferring my extant collection (garnered in my 49 years on this planet) of vinyl, cassettes and CDs to MP3 files on my computer and portable, I've been exploring the world of "legal" audio downloads to help me round out my collection. It could ultimately be cheaper than spending the hundreds od ollars needed to fulfill my Amazon wish-list.
I've explored Musicmatch Downloads, eMusic, MusicNow, iTunes and Napster. I've been fairly disappointed so far at what can b

Glad I'm not the only middle-ager here.
I believe I saw a production of Mozart's "Magic Flute" at the old Juilliard building on 122nd St. sometime in '62 or 63 but I could be wrong about the year. Sometime in '62 I was also taken to see "How to Succeed..." but, at age 7, I don't have very strong memories of it (though I vividly recall the movie version in '67)
The first on-Bway musical I actually have memories of is "Ben Franklin in Paris" with Robert Preston (same, year, I recall
