There is actually quite a bit more in common between the two shows. I don't think Hedwig is responsible for us having Taboo, but there are definitely common themes. They're both very sad shows about discovering ones identity and embracing difference.

Taboo and Thoroughly Modern Millie. Susan Egan will be playing Millie by the time youre in New York, and while I'll miss Sutton dearly, Susan is likely to give an amazing performance. And Taboo has the best music on Broadway easily.

I think it will be brilliant. Unlike Hairspray, it's likely to have a good score. The 80's, musically especially, are muuuccchh cooler than the 60's, for one. It also has the roles for 4 absolutely amazing performances in the right hands. I can't wait. Outside of the traditional Wildhorn/Schoenberg style musical theatre, it could be the best 'remake' musical in years.

Hahaha... good one. Because you mean Melissa Errico should have won, right? That was clever.
But really. With Harvey Fierstein this year, the Tony voters made it clear that you may as well have a fake one. He didn't give half the performance of either Antonio Banderas or Brian Stokes Mitchell.

10 NICE THINGS ABOUT B-WAY MUSICALS LATELY Jan 13
2004, 04:08:30 AM
In no particular order...
Boy George writing the most beautiful score since Ragtime and Pimpernel
Avenue Q
Sutton Foster
Raul Esparza
We're finally getting a B'way production of Assassins
P Diddy's Broadway debut... and I'm serious. I think it's going to spark an interest in live theatre among a crowd who never wanted to see a Broadway show.
Sara Gettlefinger - A relative unknown who was absolutely stunning in Nine and is sure to be one of Broadwa

Merrily We Roll Along. The ending of the show, but beginning of the story, is so optimistic and at the same time heartbreaking when you think back to the beginning where we already know the end.
