re: Tyler Maynard Will Not Be Performing at Mr. Broadway, as schedueled.
 Apr 30 2007, 02:54:56 PM
I think it sounds fun! We did something along these lines at my college to raise money for Habitat for Humanty and it was HILARIOUS. I laughed so hard I cried.
I think Tyler would have been great-- I hope his foot heals quickly!

re: Sweeney Todd Matinee today!!

My sister and I were at Saturday's matinee too! We bought tickets for center orchestra Row P, but when we were picking them up at the box office, the guy bumped us up to Row B, which was awesome. This was my first time seeing it, so I don't know of any dropped lines etc. The show went really well-- no mishaps that I could see. All the good stuff I'd heard about Mano, Patti, Michael, and everyone else I totally agree with. Benjamin Magnuson was out, so Anthony was played by Benjamin Eakeley and t

I saw her as Tracy in Hairspray the second time I saw the show and she was awesome! I also love her voice on the Actor's Fund Hair CD.
re: Odd Couple Mis-Hap TONIGHT

I love it! My college offers acting classes, and anyone is allowed to attend the acting finals. One of the pairs of students did a scene from The Odd Couple and I was reminded of how much I liked Matthew and Nathan together.
re: Mamma Mia! the movie musical

I agree with justafan-- while I had a great time when I saw this live, I really don't see it working as a movie. This should be interesting to see...

I loved Zoe Wanamaker. She was amazing. I thought the set and lighting were well done. Though, I was a little underwhelmed by the production as a whole. And I was disappointed by Mark Ruffalo. But, I only saw the second preview, so maybe much has improved by then.

re: If you could take one song out...

The Music and the Mirror?? I love that song and it's Cassie's big number! I can't believe that they replaced it in the movie by that other song, but that's a whole other story.
I find the staging of Sante Fe kind of boring on stage, but I really enjoyed it in the movie. For some reason I really love the "gain, gain, gain" part. It always makes me smile.

re: Doyle's Company to transfer to Broadway!

ooh, I am so going to go see this. I have never seen Raul live, either, but I love his voice.
I'll have to go see Sweeney soon, now. :)

Kelsey Grammer directing-- interesting. I love Roger Bart-- I hope this does well.
re: Altarholics

I've seen the show 7 times-- many of them when there are a lot of other Altarholics in attendance-- and everyone has always been really nice and respectful. I'm sure some people go overboard, but for the most part it is all in good fun. I see the show multiple times because it makes me happy. And the show is really really good to its fans, as seen by the Appreciation Day and the Altarholics website.

"I hope you can avoid the unpleasant staff at this theatre. The blond female usher in the balcony and the woman house manager were so lacking in manners I left the theatre before the show started and I have never done that before due to staff attitude and behavior at at theatre. Certainly it's not a service to the show and if I were the producer or actors I wouldn't want customers to be ill-treated."

I totally agree! The female usher in the balcony is the rudest usher I have ever met.

re: Standing O's?
 Apr 1 2006, 02:31:25 AM
I think the only show that I've seen that I felt didn't merit a standing ovation was Awake and Sing!-- the show just didn't do it for me. I only saw the second preview, though, so I'm sure the show will improve by the time it opens.
I give a standing ovation if I think that the performers were really talented and worked really hard, even if the show is a little weak-- the book-writer, composer, director etc. aren't there to see the crowd's reaction-- just the actors.

re: Ah, favorite little moments on an OBC...

Light in the Piazza-- In Passeggiata, when Matthew Morrison sings, "the place that I knoooow!" and his voice just sounds so amazing. I don't let anyone speak while that part of the song is playing :)
