Love Never Dies Does. At Last!
 Jun 22 2011, 06:47:13 PM
Mister Matt,

The Beauty Underneath has been completely redone for the Melbourne version. It's definitely a highlight for me now (with a big WTF thrown in as well.)
It's been redone to take place in a hall of mirrors with "freaks" surrounding them (mermaid, bearded woman, etc etc). Works awesome with the turntable stage.
It's VERY cool in Melbourne.

I saw the Melbourne version two weeks ago and quite enjoyed it.
I heard the London one was a disaster, but the Melbourne version was extremely different as you guys know.
Visually spectacular, and parts of the score are very beautiful.

That being said, it's an unnecessary sequel, obviously.
It's very flawed, but the good outweighed the bad in my opinion.

If it were to open on Broadway, the second act needs to be worked on. The story itself is not great, but if they'

oh no! the drawings arent showing up!

rentaholic 2, i do think they should keep most of the score.
i would keep all the songs but cut: another pyramid, how i know you and its reprise, strongest suit reprise, enchantment passing through and maybe one of the elaborate lives songs.

any other thoughts?

it reminds me of a lot of 90s disney movies!
hunchback for the dark mood.
hercules for some of the songs.

ericmontreal22,

heres the AIDA art!

I cannot wait for Frog Princess! It's all 1920's jazz music and takes place during that period in New Orleans. It's got Anika Noni Rose who wil be fabulous! I'm so excited!

judging by the characters drawings...what could have been, could have been a disaster! i hate how all the characters are drawn...and whats with the hippo?
if they ever did come out with this movie...disney would be in merchandise heaven...it would not only have one princess...but TWO! which means merchandising would be through the roof!

im guessing the mummy is meant to be either a totally new character or I was thinking Zoser has shapeshifting abilities and he transforms into a mummy. i kid i kid.

i don't think the movie would need talking animals or anything, i've always thought of it as being closer to "hunchback" than anything, maybe even "black cauldron" in terms of how dark it is.

i think it would work as an animated film because i feel a lot of the music is reminiscent of the classic disney films of the 90s. Written in the stars feels like a disney love ballad which i love!

SeanMartin ,
arent they commited again? because they have three new animated features coming out, but the only one i can remember off hand is "the frog princess" which sounds promising, especially with anika noni rose in the title role!

I've always though "Every Story" would work

Now I think in my opinion, it is safe to say Aida will never make the transfer from stage to screen unless it was animated!
I know it was originally supposed to be animated before elton and tim took it to Broadway. Does anybody think this could work? now that disney is back to animating movies traditionally, it could very well be an amazing animated movie, if done correctly!
Of course there would be obvious cuts (another pyramid needs to go!) and perhaps toned down in the sexuality depar
