re: CYRANO on Great Performances
 Jan 5 2009, 06:07:12 PM
It came on last night at one in the morning here in Houston. It was listed on the tv guide as Dr. Atomic. Kinda upset that it wasn't as I wanted to see both.

Nevertheless, it is a wonderful recording of the show. I never saw it live but I thoroughly enjoyed it and never felt that I missed anything from the camera angles and such. Kline was an outstanding Cyrano, and the rest of the cast was wonderful.

Aiutami - The Light in the Piazza. Followed closely by Johanna Quartet from the 2005 Sweeney Todd revival.

Thanks so much. I am going to forget about The Little Mermaid. And I hope that August:Osage County extends. Does anyone know is Dead Man's Cell Phone is a good choice, I'm a fan of Sarah Ruhl's other pieces.
Help Picking Shows for March Trip

I will be going to New York City this March 11-16 and really want to see as many shows as I can. So far it looks like I can see up to seven shows but I can't narrow my list down.

I want to see:
Gypsy
Sunday in the Park with George
Cat on a Hot Tin Roof
In the Heights
Xanadu
Dead Man's Cell Phone
August: Osage County
Is He Dead?
The Little Mermaid

Are there any worth missing or any I should consider seeing instead. I rarely get to visit NYC s

I agree with the last line/moment from Moon for Misbegotten.

I saw it at the Alley in Houston and it was perfection.

I saw a really good production of it at the Texas Thespian Convention by Woodlands High School. I don't know exactly how to explain it though.
re: The next movie to turn musical?

Thanks BwayBaby18, I had a feeling someone would have tried to turn it into a musical.

It would be great to see Pleasantville. To go from color to blakc and white and back to color would be crazy.

I almost walked out on two shows. One being a high school production of Chicago, it was horrible. The people with me with wanted to stay to see how bad the second act would be though. It was really hard not to walk out, thankfully i didnt pay. Also i wanted to walk out of Doctor Dolitte, but it was 90 minutes no intermission and i didnt want to walk out in the middle.

Playbill, you really will enjoy it a lot. The staging of razzle dazzle is really great. You wont feel like your not seeing something colorful or bright.

Next years season really doesnt seem too entertaining, nothing really jumps out as an amazing show. Well, at least this season had its good ones.

agreed Caroline-Q-or-TBoo! 110 in the Shade really was one of TUTS best performances. They really pulled it off beautifully. If TUTS could do that well, i can't wait to see what they do for the revival.
re: scary moments
 Apr 17 2006, 08:21:55 PM
The pillowman was very scary, i was freakin out the whole time and at the alley it was an arena stage and i was about a two feet from the actors,

Wait until dark is frightening too, that moment when the lights go out always makes me jump for some reason
