re: Frogs Student Rush Policy

I got 2 seats at TKTS (downtown) last Friday for the Saturday matinee.
re: Any opinions on orchestra partial view seating for Wicked?

We sat Row L far right on Saturday and it was not bad at all. I noted no obstructions in the Orchestra (there's a pole at the end of row F I think) and we really didn't miss anything.
re: Being a Theatre Major... stress & venting

I am surprised at seeing Syracuse on several lists for theater. When I attended there (many moons ago) it was NOT known as a good program. When did it acquire this reputation?
Um...who laughed at you?

Dracula hadn't opened Friday when I was there, but we saw Mama Mia, Caroline or Change, I am My Own Wife, and we bought Frogs.
re: what flop did you see?

Gee, a fair number, now that I think about it. The ones that come to mind:

Dance of the Vampires- Really liked it. Pretty funny.
Seussical- OK. A good show to take kids.
Amour- BOOOOORING! My daughter loved it, and my husband wanted to leave at intermission.
Teddy and Alice; The worst EVER! Only courtesy kept us until intermission.

The Producers--- with the original cast.

The funniest thing I ever saw on a stage.

re: ASSASSINS CLOSING EARLY

The American Express site is showing seats well into August! Hooray!

I may take my chances and book those dates. If they close, We'll see something else.

Interesting that many of the examples we have given in this post

Harvey was AWESOME in Hairspray! He deserved the Tony!

For BAD BAD BAD, I nominate the entire cast of "Teddy and Alice" (1987). The only show I ever left at intermission.

"And Gary, you're selling all your worldly possesions on ebay..."
"In volatile market, only stable investment is p*rn!"

re: Wicked Karaoke
 Jun 17 2004, 04:15:10 PM
I had little luck using a vocal ripper on either Wicked, or some of Avenue Q. The lower vocals came out easily, but the higher voices were problematic.

I will get the karaoke, already done.

wunnerful, just wunnerful

Count me as an old crow. I liked the show very much. Donna Murphy was fabulous, and the show was good, for what it is... a classic. If you want modern, see Avenue Q or Wicked.

We saw Anything Goes in London a few months ago. Another good classic show.

re: Is THE PRODUCERS the most overated musical ever?

Cast is worse than bad... WAY worse than bad... If I didn't have a mesmerized 1st grader in tow, I never would have seen the curtain call.
re: BEST MUSICAL EVER
 Jun 14 2004, 01:55:06 PM
Hmmm... in no order at all...

Ragtime
Producers
Lion King
Anything Goes
Avenue Q

I hated Les Mis (saw it 3 times), REALLY hated Cats, and do not see Wicked until late summer.

re: Avenue Q sheet music
 Jun 14 2004, 01:31:16 PM
Amazon still shows it as due in June, and available for pre-order, but the Wicked sheet music (not due until July now) is shown the same way.l
re: Everyone seems to hate it, but I LOVE IT
 Dec 2 2003, 03:32:32 PM
I liked "Seussical", and REALLY liked "Dance of the Vampires"
re: Shows You Walked Out On ( If Any)
 Dec 2 2003, 03:25:36 PM
I walked out of "Teddy and Alice" and would have left "Starlight Express"(tour)and "Les Mis" (tour) if I wasn't with my kid.
re: Little Shop of Horrors vs. Avenue Q
 Dec 2 2003, 03:03:27 PM
You can't go wrong with either, but LSOH is just LSOH while Avenue Q is fresh, different, and the funniest thing I've seen since "The Producers".

re: What was the first show you ever saw?
 Nov 9 2003, 12:47:00 PM
Aren't there any OLD people here?

The first Broadway show I saw was Grease (original production). I loved it, and have loved Broadway, and been hooked on live theater ever since.

Since I regret not seeing MORE theater when I was younger, I regularly take my daughter to NY to see shows, and have since she was 3. We also see Broadway touring companies in our area, and some regional and local productions.

re: top 3 shows that you HAVE TO see...

1. Producers
2. Hairspray
3. Avenue Q
