TKTS line-

women 1 - "Have you seen Spring Awakening?"
woman 2- "Not a humable tune in the whole thing, I like shows with a good story like Mamma Mia and Jersey boys..."

(ok it was hilarious if you say that back with a heavy Jersey accent...)

I think essentially what si wrong with the show is what the show is about!
Esentially a dance marathon starts very exciting, then spiral down and down, becoming more stagnant and depressing, which is teh opposite of generally what a musical does, which tend to spiral upward to a climax. Has anyone seen the film 'they shoot horses don't they?'(the inspiration) painful yet addictive to watch.

I was part of the Australian premiere, and I fell in love with the 'heart' of the show. Needs a big re-write, cut some characters out, and focus the storyline and it could be amazing.

(ps for anyone interested some pics http://www.cloc.org.au/about/about_steel%20pier.htm )

part 3 -

Wicked.
what can I say everything I expected. having known teh cd back to front, loved the book (I am dissapointed in teh changes from book to stage esp the ending but I did know about these before seeing it and thats a whole other discussion) twas very exciting to finally see the show.
Firstly I love that this theatre has a foyer! so few broadway theatres do! Glinda was awesome, Fiyero was awful (did he do a singing audition??) and the elphaba warmed on me. Such a gre

part 2-

The Wedding Singer (final show!)
REally enjoyed the show, but can kinda understand why it wasn't succesful. Found teh book really weak, and the jokes obvious and predictable(to a point where you knew what the next joke was going to be). REally enojyed teh score and the enetrgy in the chorey though!
What made the experience fantastic was that it was closing and there was an amazing buzz in teh audience and constant cherring etc etcetc so that was fantastic- hilarious amer

THE REVIEWS!!! - part 1!

OK BEEN INSANELY BUSY GETTING MY LIFE BACK IN ORDER, but am back now and here are the first few show reviews (in brief!)

Colour Purple-
ok this was our first broadway show so it had a bit of an overwhelming-oh-my-god-i-can't-believe-we-are-here feeling over it.
I really enjoyed the show, however I felt that it had pace issues and flew over scenes/moments when I think more time could have been spent developing relationships between teh characters

Drowsy chapperone, Spring awakening, Avenue Q, and maybe Company(ok not the best concept/production, but the only show that made me cry so it gets my vote...)

worst would be-

Spamalot (ok i don't get the joke, or perhaps I was angry Marin was off...), Tarzan- (best opening 20secs ever... shame after that), I love you you're perfect etc..., The Producers (ok having seen the show in aus I know the show is fantastic.

multi-cultural casting

quick question:

a friend was telling me there is a rule/law/guideline that broadway shows have to be cast, with a percentage of the cast being non-caucasian.
Just wondering if there is any truth to this??

Trivia Help!!

ok so this is going to sound random, but can anyone help with the answers to these??

Who was the first actor to have his or her name billed above a Lloyd- Webber show? What was that show?

Who originated the role of Mama Rose in Australia and who is her daughter?

THANK-YOU!!!
