Any 'Mame' Rumors Lately?
 Jul 18 2010, 06:07:25 PM
I have always thought that Goldie Hawn would be a great Mame. Maybe her "Banger Sisters" co-star Susan Sarandon could be persuaded to play Vera in that situation.

I also saw this show for free a couple of weeks ago. There were three understudies on, including Rachelle Rak(before she was officially bumped up). There were huge groans and murmurs from the audience because there were three understudies on, but during intermission everyone around me was raving about Rak, and she was the definite highlight of the show. The show itself is not good. But, I hear the Robert Newman is good in the show and I can attest to Rak making a great impression.(she is still t
August: Osage County Casting

Just a query as to the rumors being true that there will be other new cast members joining Ms. Rashad, that will better reflect a multi-racial family? Again, I only have heard rumors, but I was curious if it was just speculation.

And to maybe throw my two cents into the ring, that is if they are opening the casting pool: What about Whoopi Goldberg for Mattie Fae? Am I crazy in seeing this?

Dominique,
Sometimes truly talented people do emerge from reality shows, but to not call it stunt casting is absurd. Just because they are not A-B or C list stars doesn't mean that they are not stunt casting.

Two definitions for stunt:

1) to hinder the normal growth, development, or progress of

2)an unusual or difficult feat, one performed or undertaken chiefly to gain attention or publicity

Sooooo many reality show people come in front of the casting

In response to the musical theatre actress who is not available for this workshop, its Sutton Foster. She apparently loves the show and her big act 1 number.

Let me preface this by saying that I am a longtime lurker, and rare poster.

I was reading this thread, and I really don't understand how merciless you all can be towards someone who is trying to warn other people on this board. Yes, maybe he made a mistake but there might be one, two, ten, etc. people who were also pondering selling to Broadwayman and might now reconsider.

'Live and learn? I doubt it. In general, people who've been scammed continue to keep getting scammed for

re: Riedel Puts Jerry Mitchell In His Place - Ouch!

Despite his negative rep, practically everyone in the theatre community reads Riedel's column or has someone give them the Reader's Digest version. He doesn't have the personal power to bring down a show or career single-handedly but his continued negative buzz can affect a career or a show(like Sweet Smell of Success). Even if he blows things out of proportion, he does provide buzz and fodder for the theatre community. That's the reason why he's invited to EVERYTHING. He's a modern day Walter W

I know Rath and I have had diverging opinions on this for a while now, but I think it is definitely worth the trip up to Westport.

I believe it has improved over the years.

Has anyone seen a production of this play? I am coaching someone on an audition for it, and had some questions about previous productions.

Thank you.
