re: Dracula CD R.I.P. ?

And on another note:

"Although composer Wildhorn owns his work (along with Dracula lyricists Christopher Hampton and Don Black), the rights to a recording of a Broadway musical's score are usually tied up by its Broadway producers for the duration of the New York run, plus 19 weeks.

Equity requires producers to get permission from the union for any and all recorded documents of the show, including a cast album.

Equity rules indicate that a cast recording that does not use the union's actors cannot happen until 19 weeks after the close of a show."

re: I've been sent a score as a PDF file and I need help printing it double
 Nov 12 2005, 02:58:44 PM
Try printing only the odd pages, then put the paper back in and print only the even pages. BUT: Make sure you have the paper in correctly or you'll waste 200 pages.

Yes, best of luck to your friend and congrats as well!
re: What should you do if you know someone's doing an illegal production?
 Oct 30 2005, 11:19:13 PM
Our school always records (and sells!) videos of their musical productions despite the fact that they don't buy video licenses for the shows (because they aren't available). However, they do pay for the license to put on the show.
I'll talk to the drama teacher about this, but not until this year's production is over: they've got a new drama director (so she might not record it).

ihearttheatre has a valid point. Having written a musical myself before, I know how much work goes into

I say you report it. Sometimes you just have to stand up for what you believe in, even if it hurts you.
Anyways, what's the worst that can happen? If they stop the school from doing the show, it's not like they'll plaster the school with signs saying "MY FAIR LADY REPORTED THIS ILLEGAL PRODUCTION!" No one (other than your friend and mother) will suspect you.

re: Best Broadway Show for Teenagers?
 Oct 8 2005, 07:25:33 PM
Dirty Rotten Scoundrels or RENT
High schoolers most likely won't enjoy Light in the Piazza and I agree with JasonF (and others) that Avenue Q is not appropriate for school, but fine as a family thing.

My school's chorus is also going to NYC for a competition (the same one?) and they're seeing a Broadway show too. Too bad I'm not in chorus...wait, I can't sing....

re: Is Wicked Still Good?
 Sep 13 2005, 08:45:54 PM
It has its moments, but I found the sudden switches from a serious dialogue to just telling jokes in the same scene rather distracting.
And, as stated before, the book is by far better than the musical.

Finally, I'm aware that your interest is in Wicked, but there are quite a few other shows on Broadway right now (and hopefully still next summer) that are also worth checking out (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels comes to mind).

Forget Regret <3 and Korenglish,
It was at the bottom of the Sony Pictures Newsletter sent out last night. You needed to be signed up on their mailing list. I'll see if I can post the newsletter.
