BACK TO THE FUTURE : Lottery/Rush seats?
 Jul 7 2023, 10:54:15 AM

I went last night through a “lottery loser” offer. My notification that I did not win was accompanied by an offer to get tickets for $58 which I did (and I think it told me the seat before committing to buying it and I did. Orchestra Left partial view and I was quite happy with it. Sometimes you didn’t see the left part of the set when it was at the rear of the stage. But they would then push up or rotate. I don’t think I missed a single thing.
I like when p

Drifting from the thread, but Spamalot is being but on by Kennedy Center’s Broadway Center Stage in May with the usual star studded cast and great orchestra.

Fair points about the descent into madness feeling a bit to relaxed and then unearned at the end. Especially since this is my first seeing any version of this show, to me that's just how the show is. Other posts suggest things could be played/directed in a way where Norma is more mad to begin with. I'll have to wrap my head around that, because I saw and bought SJB's Norma that she was a lot eccentric and out of touch, but not out of her mind.

Not about the production

Looks like I misspoke about the pit. From the KC website:

"The theater contains an orchestra pit for 35 musicians that is convertible to a forestage or additional seating space."

So there are different ways to do it. Maybe they have the orchestra on stage because they want to have the additional seating. For Guys and Dolls, the most recent of these productions, the orchestra was also on stage.

This was amazing. And the BWW interview and preview videos that some criticized are what sold me on seeing it and I'm so glad I did. They're a glimpse into early rehearsals to something that evolves amazingly in such a short period of time. And for those that thought they did a disservice to marketing, it looks like the run was near completely sold out (aside from the final matinee performance this Wednesday that shows plenty of availability). I hadn't seen any productions of Suns

I was at the Saturday 1/14 matinee. Was that indeed Danny on? I was frustrated because I was sure it was a cover and no announcement was made. I figured something happened too late to put a note in the playbill etc. But I’m looking at photos of the understudy David Mason and it doesn’t look like him either; in fact he looks a bit like Danny when they both have facial hair. And two previous posters were at the Sat matinee and didn’t say anything about it not being Danny. So I

Samuel Jackson will be out Sunday as well. Returning on Tuesday 1/17. I visited the box office just now (Sat afternoon) because I was thinking about going Sunday and was told that from the box office.

COVID performance cancellation

Ugh, I have a lottery ticket for Six on Wednesday night and was planning on taking the bus up from DC in the morning. With the Tuesday cancellation news, have to decide if it’s worth the risk of still coming up or not! I’ve mostly seen what I want to see, so not keen on coming up if I think the show isn’t gonna go on.

I loved it. I'm not quick to laugh and I think the show is so innovative, smart, witty, fantastically performed, and more. Great reviews including one in the Post.

I saw it on the first night of its previews. The artistic director was welcoming of input and I shared some detailed thoughts: I’m so glad their run is extended. I’m going to try to go back to see if any of my suggested tweaks made it in and I’ve been encouraging my family and friends to go se

Because a lot of Broadway theaters--I'd actually venture to say most--exhibit great respect to the rush lottery concept and its winners and give you a great seat. For some shows that's in the first few rows or another very good orchestra suite. Sometimes the better selling the show

Company Rush Tickets?

I got a rush ticket from the digital lottery for the February 2 matinee and it was Orchestra Left and not all the way to the side. Orchestra Left, Row E, Seat 9, $35.

Saw the 1/14 show and am negative about it. I didn’t connect with any of it emotionally. Other commenters have made interesting points about WSS casting generally needing to prioritize dancing above acting and this director focusing more on his non-colorful vision than acting. An earlier assessment of it being on the level of the acting being at a good but not great student level rang true to me.

Choosing broadcasting to a massive HD screen was a bold choice and allow
