Adam & Anthony Rapp concert in Chicago last night
 Oct 23 2011, 10:38:47 PM
Adam Pascal is great and all, but am I the only one who thinks he is a HORRIBLE choice for Huey? Everyone I talk to loves his "rawness" in Rent. That worked for Roger, but it won't work for Huey. He is too old, and, as an actor, there is always some of yourself in the character. Seeing interviews and such, you can tell Chad is a goofball like Huey. I just don't think Adam fits the character at all. And a lot of people I believe are loving him are either fueled by their love of Rent or of their h

Hey guys and gals! Anyone see Chad's last show? I fell in love with Memphis and was wondering if anyone saw it/how it was.

He is supposed to act like some "bum" and "loser," since he can never hold a job and such, AND he's not supposed to know how to read.

George W. Bush? Hmmmm...last time i checked, Bush can read, hold a few jobs, and isn't a drunk. If you are gonna compare Huey to someone, compare him to maybe like a TRUE southern redneck.

Musicals that use music not written for theatre OR by those who conceived it.

Jukebox musicals are fun, but I feel like they shouldn't be considered for Tony's that much. I didn't see American Idiot (cause I hate Green Day) but when you put it up against an ORIGINAL concept like Memphis, then it shouldn't have a shot. Granted, it didn't win, but my point is that it shouldn't have a shot at anything when put up against an original concept

massofmen: If you can understand English, you can understand what he says. I mean, you can also even make the case that black people in the south did talk differently than white people, and since the cast is actually mostly black, you can make the case that his different voice/accent is actually correct.

And if he was THAT bad, Memphis would not be still here.

NORBERT LEO BUTZ OVER JOSH GRAD?!

Not only am I an N2N fan, I'm also conservative. And when a conservative thinks Andrew Rannells was incredible, you know he was.

My point was that maybe the character of Carl Hanratty was not supposed to be taken in that direction. But, then again, maybe the theme was to make the FBI look like a bunch of idiots as a whole? Cause it worked.

This was supposed to be Aaron's show. Hands down.

Alrighty. Whoever has actually seen the movie "Catch Me if You Can" knows Norbert did not deserve that Tony. He portrayed Hanratty as a goofball. He was not a goofball. His performance alone ruined it. If anyone from that musical should have been nominated, it should have been Aaron Tveit. He was perfect for the role, had all the mannerisms of DiCaprio down, and was in great voice.

Rannells deserved that Tony. Just watch his performance on YouTube. He played that part perfectly. If any
