Audra McDonald-led GYPSY for 2024-2025 Season!

Kad said: "June is a pretty thankless role, imo. I would easily rank it behind Herbie, Louise, and even any of the stripper trio- the strippers get less stagetime but they get easily one of the best songs in the show and there's a lot more room for reinterpretation of those characters."

Leigh Ann Larkin made an absolute meal of that role in the LuPone revival, so the material certainly supports character development for June.

I stumbled upon the Broadway.com message board in 2002 while researching whether or not Molly Ringwald was still in Cabaret at the time. I was immediately sucked in, and absolutely adored reading the musings of seasoned theatre goers. Broadway.com put the kibosh on their message board when some users (such as username Machoman, later Finding Namo) got a little too heated, and the website dropped the message board to protect their brand.

Shortly thereafter I found BWW, and posted f

I cannot imagine any replacement signed a 12 month contract here. If casting in NY is anything like it has been in London, I would say the leads will exit after 3-6 months.

Looks like another trip across the Atlantic will be in my future this winter.

Saw the next to last performance this afternoon. Loved the play, and Falco was stunning. What an artist.

The reason I ask is because I swear the way people describe Ato it's also how I felt about Omari - so I'm wondering if the common link is actually the direction of the character and not the actor."

I did. I felt Omari at least came alive in his scenes with Buckley, and Ato reminded me that Cliff is a real drip.

After seeing a preview performance of The Producers, David Geffen allegedly told the creative team that they had a “huge hit on (their) hands, but one major problem. You’ve got to fire Broderick.”

I am highly looking forward to this production, Audra’s performance, the direction, everything. I do agree that there is a whiff of the Mendes/Peters production since no one from the original creative team is alive or involved outside of their estates, but I don’t bet against McDonald.

Currently rereading Arthur Laurents’ last book, and while he was certainly a viper who would hold a grudge, it is worth noting that every single time he directed Gypsy in New York

Oh, it is most certainly his natural state. You can cheer the work, but yeah, that’s Jeremy.

Or Will Swenson.

Kritzer will perform Lady Of The Lake “Farewell Tour” at Joe’s Pub

Yes, of course she attended CCM. The point to me seemed that perhaps it was not her first choice, and/or her high school transcript worked against her in those processes despite the talent. Nonetheless, I appreciated the candor.

I caught the end of the 9:30 stream, and I loved how she mentioned never being a very good student, who did not get into Carnegie Mellon, or NYU, but still got to where she was meant to be. That is a topic that few artists talk about, and I suppose I understand why, but I love hearing that even being a reliable singer/actor for 20+ years does not mean they had their choice of conservatories.

New York audiences are really not into this production. I think the missing ingredient is Jessie Buckley, because this show (and Eddie) was the toast of London in the winter of 21/22.

Purchased tickets for mid-December! I have always adored McDonald, but what sold me on this production is Wolfe's direction, and the fact that Arthur Laurents won't be there to give George the same "help" that Sam Mendes got in 2003.

Caught this yesterday afternoon. The script does indeed a feel a bit undercooked, but it was wonderful to see Lange on stage again.

Saw this production this evening, and it is absolutely wonderful. Saw it London with the opening night cast, which I found stunning, and the NY iteration is worth seeing.
