Audra McDonald-led GYPSY for 2024-2025 Season!
 Sep 19 2024, 10:34:14 AM

Burstein is perfect for the traditional interpretation for Herbie. But for a production that seems to be trying to reinvent this story and how we typically view it, this seems to go completely against that vision.

Audra McDonald-led GYPSY for 2024-2025 Season!

I'd hardly say he's aged out. He's only 8 years older than Audra, which for this era in particular, would be a very common age gap.

Marianne Elliot hopes to make a COMPANY film

There will definitely still be future productions with "Bobby", but if Marianne Elliott is making a film version of it, that will almost certainly be "Bobbi". She's the one who brainstormed this whole concept and worked tirelessly wit

Smallest Roles to Be Nominated for Tony Awards
 Aug 28 2024, 03:43:22 PM

One that sort of combines both of these ideas (small role or category fraud) that has always confused me is Michael Cavanagh in Movin Out. On the one hand, you could say he's a member of the orchestra and not in the story at all and therefore truly the smallest "part" to be nominated. On the other hand, you could say he's literally singing solo from the moment the lights come up to the minute the lights go down, so how is that not leading? So you either have category fraud o

Kit Connor, Rachel Zegler to star in Sam Gold-directed ROMEO + JULIET

I do wonder if Sam Gold at any point in his life has ever thought "you know, maybe I shouldn't do that".

You've named 4 shows from the last 6 years that have manages to overcome not having big names. Good for you. How about The Kite Runner, Life of Pi, Ain't No Mo, Ohio State Murders, The Shark is Broken, Pass Over, Chicken and Biscuits, Dana H, The Minutes, For Colored Girls..., The Littl

Kieran Culkin, Bob Odenkirk & Bill Burr Will Lead GLENGARRY GLEN ROSS on Broadway, Spring 2025

I highly doubt that. Mamet has always been super protective of this work and hasn't allowed a single word to be changed. I can't imagine him suddenly inserting a new scene now. Especially since they didn't include it in the prior 2 revivals, both of which were long after the movie

Alternate Universe: Patti LuPone in Sam Mendes' Gypsy (2003)
 Aug 4 2024, 12:00:07 PM

3 big things seemed to influence those Tony results:

1) Hairspray was a juggernaut and by far the most beloved production of the season.

2) Gypsy was not ready by the start of previews and was heavily criticized in all the tabloids as such, creating lots and lots of negative publicity around the production.

3) Bernadette missed a lot of performances.

The only change with Patti presumably would have been the missing lots of performances. The other two th

Not sure if this is a new tour or just a rehashing of the tour he directed a decade ago. Either way, that one never made it to NY, but maybe this one will have better luck.

Vacation Dates For Daniel Radcliffe and Jonathan Groff?

I heard a rumor that both of them are on vacation starting today through December 31, 2099. So are Lindsay and the entire rest of the cast.

Is Broadway quieter during the Jewish holidays?

For the cast, but pending the holiday and pending the amount of alcohol consumed at celebrations beforehand, the sound level from audience members can increase tenfold.

Protesters at Suffs tonight

From their middle school quality website: "This also means that the kind of interracial relationship suggested by the colorblind casting in “SUFFS” (between Dudley Malone and Doris Stevens) wouldn’t have been possible at the time"

So they're saying that the show was whitewashed because they cast actors of color? That's....a take on it.

Slave Play. Not a movie. A play.

Broadway Flash said: "I think stereophonic is far more overhyped than slave play was"

There are many great things about Stereophonic, but the best is that because of it, Harris and this joke of a play no longer get to have the "most Tony nominated play in history" title.

Danya got her start working on micro-productions at The Flea and The Tank a dozen years ago, and gradually worked her way up through the nonprofits and, eventually, to Broadway. She also didn't go to a big fancy BFA/MFA program like some of her contemporaries: she has a BA from Duke."

I'm not saying she's only succeeding be

The entire point of these performances is to sell tickets. If Alicia Keys and Jay Z do that, then so be it.

Also, Maleah has been out sick several times this month and

We're now 2.5 hours into the main broadcast and they've given out 10 awards. Maybe CBS should look into that as a reason why so many people don't watch this AWARDS show.

The 77th Annual Tony Award Snubs!

But not for something he wrote 45 years ago is my point. That's like saying Shakespeare should be given 8 Tonys now since he never had a chance to win them previously.
