OH, MARY! Previews
 Jul 3 2024, 09:04:27 AM

I won the lottery for this past Friday - ticket was front row center. Great seat for a great show!

THE LEHMAN TRILOGY Returning to Broadway This Fall?
 Jul 12 2023, 11:33:50 AM

Loved the show in NYC and entirely agree with the sentiments regarding the strength of the cast. They are hard to beat. HOWEVER, I recently saw the production at the Huntington in Boston and Steven Skybell's performance as Henry Lehman was absolutely exceptional. It will stay with me for quite some time. If they are recasting I'd love to see him in the mix.

Life of Pi RUSH
 Jun 17 2023, 07:06:25 PM

Yes! I purchased a rush seat that was in the “second row mezzanine” only to get a ticket in row G. I immediately called telecharge and explained that I bought that ticket specifically because of the listed seat, and that they sent me a ticket that I did not buy. I got put on hold for 2 mins while the rep talked to a supervisor and they issued me a refund.

A few weeks later I went to the box office at opening and specifically asked if they sold rush in the mezz. The very nic

Phantom Closing?
 Mar 9 2023, 03:23:54 PM

I went to yesterday's matinee (was able to get a $79 partial view orch seat day of, was in line at the theatre around 9:30) and had a great experience. This was my 5th time at Phantom overall, and likely my last visit before closing.

Overall, I really enjoyed the cast. This was my second time seeing Ben Crawford (saw him in October of 2021, previously saw Gary Mauer and James Barbour 2X) and I really enjoyed his performance. I was very nervous going in, considering some recen

INTO THE WOODS Previews
 Jun 28 2022, 11:53:54 PM

I was there tonight and thought that it was excellent overall. I loved this production at Encores, and felt that, overall, tonight was a step up from what I saw in May! A few notes on some of the new cast members:

First thing first, Brian D'arcy James was the absolute highlight of the evening. I have always been a big fan of BDJ, and his Baker was just perfection. It's almost as if the role was written for him. He was SO funny in Act One and deeply moving in Act Two. This is th

Hugh Jackman out of The Music Man this week?

There are quite a few $99 orchestra seats for tonight on telecharge. Looks like they dropped by a few hundred bucks throughout the day.

EPIPHANY at Lincoln Center?
 Jun 3 2022, 10:44:13 AM

I saw it the other night and really enjoyed it. The acting was excellent and I was surprised by how much I found myself laughing out loud throughout. I also got some "The Humans" vibes...kind of weird, kind of creepy, but also funny with very interesting (and authentic) characters. It felt a little long by the end (about 2 hours, with no intermission), but I'm very glad I went.

Company reviews
 Apr 5 2022, 04:53:11 PM

Looks like the 92nd St. Y is doing a screening of the new Company documentary followed by a talk with Lenk, Lupone, and Elliott on May 23rd. I just got tickets - didn't know it was happening and it seems like a great time!

Chicago Rush
 Jan 12 2022, 09:15:33 PM

I rushed successfully last Monday. I stopped by the box office around 6:15pm for a 7pm curtain and got Row C, partial view, for $49. I was surprised that they had rush seats left that late, but it worked out!

To Kill A Mockingbird closing January 16th?
 Jan 12 2022, 06:38:23 PM

Anybody happen to know if Kinnear is back in the show after his absences this weekend? I have tickets for Friday and would love to see him.

IS THIS A ROOM Previews
 Sep 28 2021, 09:37:48 PM

Grabbed a rush ticket (front row center mezz) around noon today for this evening's performance. I really enjoyed it! It's a very captivating story with some thrilling performances (especially from Emily Davis) and excellent staging. I do agree that it would make a lot more sense to have both plays in one evening, but I felt fine paying the $35 rush price for tonight.

Anybody happen to have any reports on this yet? Seems very fun!!

Adaptations You Would Like To See?
 Dec 31 2020, 08:28:45 PM

I just rewatched one of my favorite movies, Whiplash, a few days ago and couldn't help but think how well it could work on stage. I see it as a play, not a musical, and it could be a very faithful adaptation of the script. If you got an amazing Jazz band involved, and a very very talented drummer/actor to play Andrew it would be such a cool experience.

In terms of Fletcher I'd love to see Mandy Patinkin take the role. I think Steven Pasquale could be great to

Cheyenne Jackson role for broadway return
 May 30 2020, 12:56:37 PM

I'd love to see him as Jerry in a Full Monty revival! He sang Breeze Off the River at his concert in Boston this fall and was just fantastic.

Dave Malloy's Moby Dick at A.R.T.
 Dec 5 2019, 05:57:56 PM

I saw the first preview on Tuesday night and actually REALLY enjoyed the production. For context, I have always appreciated and enjoyed Dave Malloy's work (I saw Great Comet a few times, as well as Octet) but did not really love either piece. Moby Dick was a totally different experience for me.

I thought the first half (Parts 1 and 2) was absolutely incredible. Fantastic music, brilliant direction (I think my favorite I've seen from Chavkin) and in

Traveling between Boston and NYC for shows
 Oct 10 2019, 09:18:25 PM

I do the Boston -> NYC trip quite often. I don't love the buses/amtrak - I find that they usually just end up taking too long/costing too much and I don't like to have to worry about catching a certain train or bus...I might want to spend another couple hours in the city!

My method is to drive to the MetroNorth Station in Stamford Connecticut, and then take the train to Grand Central from there. The drive from my apartment in Boston to the Stamford train

Jonathan Groff Alternate for Little Shop
 Jul 29 2019, 09:15:43 AM

I've heard that they have been in touch with Jordan Fisher to take over for the 2 weeks that Groff is out - hopefully it works out. I think he'd be great!
