UK production of the Fantasticks to close.
 Jun 12 2010, 11:50:47 AM
Shows opening in the Summer rarely seem to do well in the UK, don't know whether its because most Londoners are on holiday away from London, or whether its the large number of tourists flocking to well known shows. Its a bit of a non-descript time of year really, makes it a bit difficult to publicise and market your show. This year is especially bad as its the World Cup, they're even using some theatres to show the matches (although luckily not any West End theatres)
re: Am I the Only One Annoyed By the N2N ADS on Broadway.com

I like the ads...but I don't like the bug in the system that makes them keep playing over and over again and not showing the video i want to see

Uni version of H2$ (which you'd expect to be good right?)
Our Rosemary sounded like a whale yawning and had absolutely no chemistry with Finch (who was alright but it seems to have made him rather smug). Our Biggley couldn't cope with the concept of rhythm and barely knew his lines. There weren't enough guys to fill all the parts so almost all the small male parts were doubled up, Womper ended up with a German accent to distinguish the fact that he'd already played Gatch. The lift doors alway

Ever thought the writer might not have the freedom/ability to put exactly what they wanted to put? Last time I did an interview that wasn't in Q&A format, my editor had a big go at me about how she had to put it all into Q&A style and why didn't I do that to start with?

For some reason when I saw that I thought "Since when does Jesse Spencer wear glasses". It must just be that picture as I've never thought they looked similar before

Ruthie Henshall's facial expressions tend to put me off, she does that thing where she brings her head back and sort of grins, its weird.
re: Sarah Brightman to sing Beijing Olympic theme song

Well, that was...interesting... Sarah Brightman squeeking in Cantonese (or Mandarin, I can't remember which it was. It rather spoilt the ceremony

I agree on Marguerite, its like someone took Moulin Rouge (which is based on the same Dumas story) and took all the subplots and anything deep, meaningful or interesting out.

Wow, living in London I've never seen NY1 before, and its really dull. BRING BACK THE TONYS!! I can't stay up to watch it, I have an exam tommorrow!!

Die Vampire Die, especially the bit where they all come back in after Susan's talk about despair vampires
re: First show you saw alone..

The Viewing Room (play), Marguerite (musical), I've been going alone increasingly more this year as I review shows for our Uni paper and most press offices will only give us one ticket as we're a lowly (20000 demographic!) student newspaper

why has broadway.com missed off Robin De Jesus from their nominated performances videos? He was defintely nominated right?
re: Broadway Starts to Film Stars

Raul Esparza has just been cast in Wes Craven's new film and should be appearing the second series of Pushing Daisies so I guess his TV and film career is on the up
re: Marguerite - Trailer
 May 21 2008, 05:59:00 PM
Just come back from this, the music is spellbinding although I felt the sound quality was a little poor (couldn't hear all the voices in the contrapuntal parts) so I'm going to have to get the cd when it comes out. I felt although all had amazing voices, not everyone had really got into their characters yet this could be down to my next point. But yes the weakest point is the script, it just has no depth which is surprising for its subject matter and could do with some further characterisation w

Brian May's daughter was in our University revue, and hence came both nights removing most people behind hims' view. But noone seemed to care, they all came out exclaiming how his amazing hair had blocked their view but its fine because they got to sit behind Brian May
re: Famous people who you saw at a broadway show

Saw George Takei at The Viewing Room in London (it was press night, I was expecting more people). Felt kinda bad for him though as he wasn't allowed in the VIP area
re: One-man Comedy Songs??

What about "A Miracle Would Happen" or "Shiksha Goddess" from The Last Five Years?
re: Have you ever gotten really sick at a Broadway show?
 Feb 25 2008, 09:37:25 AM
I always seem to get ill not seeing shows but doing shows (like I have a crazy cold this week that we're doing H2$) The worst was last year in Batboy when I literally could barely stand and had to lean up against the proscenium for the entire Meredith's revelation and then catch Edgar as he was about to die, not good.
Songs Hardly Referred to by their Real Titles
 Feb 6 2008, 01:11:35 PM
With An Old Fashioned Love Story, everyone I know just refers to it as "that lesbian song" as noone's heard of the Wild Party.
re: Rent Remixed London, Pro track recordings

they knocked off the Remixed bit just after I saw it, so end of October, obviously wasn't selling it
