re: Is anyone going to see the Bombay Dreams National Tour???
 Jan 22 2006, 10:29:40 AM
There was an article a while back (I'll try to find it) that mentioned they were trying to recruit Manu and Anisha (original stars) to do the tour. It's all speculation at this point, but I'd love it if they were able to get some of the original cast. Didn't they say they'd put out the tour cast list the last week of Jan? I'm sure we'll know soon enough!

Quite excited!

I'm definitely going to see it in Dallas in June. I'm really psyched. I saw it on Broadway 8 times. It was the kind of show that just entertained you. It took you away from the outside world. The critics were harsh, but everyone I know that saw it, loved it. Looking forward to it!

re: Gazillion shows...
 Sep 25 2005, 05:06:56 PM
hmmm... maybe I'm a little off, but a gazillion (and we know we're not speaking literally) has got to be more than 2, 3 or 5 times, right? Otherwise, I'd have to say I see most things a gazillion times, because half the shows I've seen, I've seen more than once. Anyway, enough nit-picking... my total addictions were Jekyll & Hyde, Aida and Bombay Dreams.

re: Broadway names pronunciation
 Sep 25 2005, 04:55:29 PM
I was pronouncing "Maya" (as in Days) as "My-ah" until I heard her say it for herself on Rosie, "MAY-ah Days". Interesting...

Nice thread... oh so very helpful. Makes me wanna go through my Playbills and see what I've been saying wrong forever... but I won't!

Another question re: Broadway on Broadway...

Are the limited seats subject to anyone in particular, or are they available to the general public? How are they attainable if they are indeed open to all? I've always wondered about this while standing behind giants and getting pushed in the crowd.

Thanks!

Thanks TruthLasso, you beat me to it.

Besides, frankly airing out how one took his own life, especially in Jason's case, is still terribly hard to read. It's as bad as finding out for the first time.

Many others mentioned, they were sick and we go, "well, they had this or that" and we dismiss it, no we accept it -- as the disease taking over. Clinical depression is a disease too, and in Jason's case it did take over. The difference is, when someone is depressed it's a secret

Jason Raize.

Ironically, his Playbill bio once read, "You will find rest from vain fancies if you perform every act in life as though it were your last."

Absolutely a sad surprise.

Written In The Stars... Aida... Heather would just break your heart with the first line, "I am here to tell you, we can never meet again".

re: What's your favorite 'dance number' of a musical?
 Aug 26 2005, 06:23:48 PM
I'm so glad someone mentioned Shakalaka Baby from Bombay Dreams... Chaiyya Chaiyya is also a fave!

Ditto "You can't stop the beat" & "The Jellicle Ball"

Also "La Cage Aux Folles", and actually "Another Pyramid" from Aida were quite fun as well.

re: Phantom--Movie vs Stage
 Aug 14 2005, 10:22:36 AM
I totally agree with the comment made by Born2cthelightsofbway...

"I hated the movie, the acting and singing was terrible, and to be honest, I am a huge fan of the show, but it really doesn't work on film, the movie bored me!!!!"

and to add, I was sooo disappointed when I saw the movie because my memories of seeing Phantom for the first time were so pleasant. It was so mystical and magical -- I'd hoped that element was captured in the film but it was totally lacking. And now

OMG -- saw Drumstruck last night... SO MUCH FUN!!! It was so exciting to be there and to be a part of the show. The cast is ridiculously talented (Lord knows where they get the energy). We drummed, we sang, we laughed... I just wanted to say that if anyone is looking for a fun night out with a bunch of friends, I highly recommend DRUMSTRUCK!

- No good deed goes unpunished

- Every story is a love story

- Nice is different than good

- Love's Never Easy

- The journey home is never too long

- When you change someone's life you're changing your own

- Man is not one but two, he is evil and good

- When a Broadway baby says goodnight, it's early in the morning

- The trouble with school's is, they always try to teach the wrong lesson

- They're just shoes!

What about the partial view ($55) seats... they are like Row A but way off to the sides? How much do you miss?

Thanks!

T-Mobile has Hairspray and The Producers ring tones. I just downloaded "Good Morning Baltimore" this weekend. Hopefully there will be more to come! :)

re: most treasured souvenir
 May 29 2005, 10:51:26 PM
I don't think I have a single piece of signed memorabilia that ISN'T treasured... but for the sake of naming ONE I'd have to say that one of my most treasured, tangible "memories" has to be a personally autographed headshot of Jason Raize. Jason stood in the freezing cold closing night of Carmen Jones a couple years back with my friends and I, posing for endless pictures and signing all our stuff. I will never forget that night and we will never forget him.

re: Salaam Bombay Dreams DVD...and a question?
 Apr 25 2005, 11:43:08 PM
That's basically the story. I can only judge from what I saw on Broadway to what I've heard on the London CR and seen on the DVD. I would have loved to have had something of the Broadway cast to take away (cast recording, DVD... how about a poster with the actual actors in the show on it?), especially since it closed. While the DVD is good, what is lacking is something tangible from Broadway. In my opinion, we had better singers on Broadway. Also, for example, Chaiyya Chaiyya was one of th

Also, the Salaam Bombay Dreams DVD is a great idea -- except of course if it had the Broadway cast featured instead. What can ya do? Something is better than nothing.
