Steve Kazee - in or out?
 Mar 9 2013, 04:08:04 PM
Sorry for the delay! On Thursday he was still out. Ben Hope was the only understudy. I was pretty happy with his performance, having seen Steve. Surprised his voice was so high though. Very musically talented and good connection with the rest of the cast.

Have tickets to tonight. Will be very disappointed if I flew across the country expecting to see Steve and get an understudy. But will update. I'm sure the show will be wonderful no matter.
That Championship Season rush?

Tickets seem to be available with a few days notice on TDF, if you have a membership. Maybe around $35 if i remember correctly, but they go fast. Also has been on TKTS lately. Not full on rush, but at least not full price.

Any idea what Krysta is going to be up to after this?

Yes, I also really agree with that. I love that she looks like she is going to college and carries this innocence with her. After all, she did play a lead in High School Musical

Arielle stole the show away when I saw her in Chicago. Her voice was perfect and critics seem to think she played the roll better than Mandy. Recently she is/was on a voice break, so that may be the reason why her voice was not up to par. The guy who plays Sonny, I believe, also understudied the roll on Broadway, so it would make sense that he would be pretty good. I was also upset with Usnavi, but I think it might have been that we're so used to Lin. Other than that, I thought the cast was very
Spelling Bee Goes Blue

I saw the regular Spelling Bee show a few times and the adult night in Chicago on one of the nights. I believe they did it several times. I thought it was great and the re-written stuff was very funny. Logan did a rant about Britney Spears' "shaved cooter" and how when she grows up she plans to follow her in political protest and be "Anti-Bush" There was some really good stuff. Somewhere online there is a list of many of the quotes from the show

Addams Family Review 1/05/10 -Slight Spoilers-

I thought the tickets were set a good price point for the market. I personally think that Chicago prices are way too high and broadway is event crazier. They also stuck the rush seats in a terrible location, instead of sucking it up like Wicked and devoting a whole front row.

But with all that said - people did buy the tickets and sold it out ever night. Same went for Wicked in Chicago over the holidays when they jacked up the prices to crazy numbers and had premium orchestra seats fo

The issue with the sound on this tour seems to be a real big issue, mostly because there is so much overlap in the singing. I didn't understand why the lead's mics were not up more during songs where their voices should be extra emphasized. I was sitting a few rows in front of the orchestra level controls and wanted to walk back there and smack them.
In The Heights...

(speaking on the touring version) The book has some issues, but the music and acting on tour was exceptional. There are some broadway pros from the original cast in it and a few newcomers who own the stage. I did feel though that it was sometimes hard to hear the actors since so much is going on stage at the same time and the theatre techs seem to be having trouble finding the right balance. If you want to appreciate the show in a new was listen to some songs on the cast recording. its great.

I wonder if Nathan Lane will ignore the crowds in NY too. I saw a small group of people waiting near the door where he comes out and I opted to get the whole cast to sign my poster and send him a playbill, although it would have been nice to meet him in person.

Today I got a signed playbill from Nathan Lane. Turnaround was an amazing Tuesday to Friday (but then again I live in Chicago).

Still waiting on In The Heights cast. Sent it to their stop after Chicago. It seems some people have had luck with that.

The fact that Fester talks to the audience helps give it some legitimacy also. I thought it was strange at first but then it caught on

A fan asked Bebe at the stage door last week if the "I peed" line was made up and she said "no, she says it every night, but we never know what might come out of her mouth."

Bebe said a the stage door on the 30th that she had hurt herself during the show and it got worse on the 30th, so maybe this is the cause of her being out.

If they have full view seats left, they are selling them for rush. I got there at 10am and got center orchestra. A really great show. Go down to the theatre if you have time.
They are pretty much using it to fill in space. If you are someone who wants to buy them in advance, hottix.org has been selling Orchestra and Loge tickets for about $40.
